There was a stretch when the third-graders had to be wondering. Why did they even bother?
The rain gauge they installed near the Marion Elementary School playground to monitor rainfall during the month of October didn’t get much to monitor outside of a lot of air that was warm and dry.
Then came the final week of the month.
The steady rain that closed out October, including Halloween night, produced a final reading of 3.3 inches of rainfall for the month. On October 22, the gauge showed around 1 inch of rain for the month, so the final week of the month produced more than 2 inches of rain!
Thank you to Mrs. VanCamp for leading such a fun and exciting project to help Marion students learn about our weather and environment!
