It started with 18 but when the final word was spelled, John Fox stood alone.
The Marion Elementary School fourth-grader outlasted plenty of determined challengers to win the 2025 Marion Spelling Bee on Tuesday night at the Elementary School auditorium.
John correctly spelled “snicker” to clinch the win, finishing ahead of classmate Zora Lujan for top honors. John and Zora advance to the regional spelling bee on March 22 at Palmyra-Macedon. Fellow fourth-grader Colleen Dilworth won a spell-off with three others to finish in third place and is the alternate for the regional competition.
Congratulations to all of the spellers who participated in this year’s Spelling Bee!
